We’ve dedicated a lot of time towards making Hunter’s as authentic as possible. Our bar is built out of reclaimed wood from an ancient Guilford County tobacco barn that had to be torn down to make way for a highway. We tried to emphasize as much of the history of our building as possible in our design. Our signature cocktail list has quite a few recipes that you might never have heard of unless you were around back in Joel Lane’s day. They probably didn’t have table-top shuffleboard back in 1782 but I think Isaac would have been a pretty big fan.

We all agreed from day one that we wanted to build a bar that was dedicated to celebrating exactly what makes Raleigh unique, and why we are proud to call it our home. The story of Isaac Hunter’s Tavern lies at the very heart of who we are, and what we want this bar to aspire to be. We wanted to create a place that was more than just another bar downtown. We’re not in it to make a million dollars and then jet back to California. We’re here because we wanted to build a bar that was by Raleigh, about Raleigh, and for Raleigh.
